The IBM Brand Challenge is a regional competition, accepting entries from college students in both the U.S. and Canada. In this challenge, students are required to create a non-traditional cohesive marketing campaign focusing on IBM Watson, with the goal being to help educate a younger consumer generation about the IBM brand and Watson’s intellectual proficiencies. The IBM Brand Challenge charges participants to develop a strategy that will help young people learn unexpected ways to integrate cognitive computing technologies into their lives every day. The eight annual Collegiate Effie competition will be the first time IBM has participated.

The Pace Brand Challenge is only open to college students in the U.S. as it is a national competition. In this challenge, students are tasked with creating a comprehensive, multi-channel marketing campaign that will motivate the target demographic to try Pace and establish the brand as the salsa of choice for Taco Night. This will be Campbell Soup Company’s second year in a row presenting the challenge. In 2016, Campell chose to feature their V8+Energy brand.

The purpose of the Collegiate Effie Awards is to identify, motivate, educate, and engage the marketers of tomorrow. Similar to the North American Effie Awards Competition, the Collegiate Effie Awards give students the chance to research, create, and implement all-inclusive marketing communications plans that tackle professional-level marketing challenges.

Both the IBM and Pace Brand Challenges are open to college students who are presently enrolled full or part-time at an accredited educational institution and that are either junior standing or above, graduate students, or students enrolled in portfolio programs. Submissions that meet the requirements will be judged by industry professionals from various fields, including creative, strategic planning, media strategy, branding, marketing, and social media. Chosen finalists for each challenge with have the chance to show their work to senior members of the IBM and Pace brand teams.

The submission deadline for both challenges is April 4, 2017. For complete details on the Collegiate Effie competition, visit their website at www.effie.org/collegiate-effie.
